Compiling a list of natural wonders of the world is never an easy task and unlikely to create a consensus. Because there are so many beautiful places on earth, many of them are still hidden and undiscovered yet. This is our version of the natural wonders of the world.
11. Antarctica
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent, is a virtually uninhabited, ice-covered landmass. On average, is the coldest, driest, and windiest continent on the planet, and has the highest average elevation of all the continents. It’s known for the Lemaire Channel and Paradise Harbor, striking, iceberg-flanked passageways, and Port Lockroy, a former British research station turned museum. Sea life of Antarctica include penguins, blue whales, orcas, colossal squids and fur seals.
10. Sahara Desert
The Sahara is the largest hot desert in the world, and the world's third largest desert after Antarctica and the Arctic. It covers most of North Africa, and is nearly the area of China or the United States. Most of the desert consists of largely barren, hard, rocky plateaus, with very little sand. The Sahara receives less than three inches of rain a year on average. The flora of the Sahara is highly diversified based on the bio-geographical characteristics of this vast desert. It comprises around 2800 species of vascular plants. Approximately a quarter of these are endemic. About to fauna, the emblematic animals of the desert are addaxes, gazelles, doncas, fennecs and camels are the main animal of the desert.
9. Mount Everest
Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmatha and in Tibet as Chomolungma, is Earth's highest mountain (At 8,848 meters (29,029 ft)). Surrounding Mt. Everest, 4 (Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Shishapangma) of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters stand guard within a sphere of 200 square kilometers. Together they form one of the world’s most grandiose landscapes. For foreign travellers, Everest Base Camp has become one of the most popular trekking destinations in Tibet, offering the chance to gaze on the magnificent north face of the world’s highest peak-- Mount Everest.
8. Great Barrier Reef
Off the coast of Queensland in northeastern Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 kilometres (1,400 mi). This reef structure is composed of and built by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. The Great Barrier Reef also features a host of wildlife including green sea turtles, dolphins, whales, sea snakes, clown fish, starfish, sharks. It is one of the main tourist attractions in Australia.
7. Ha Long Bay
Located in northeast Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is known for its emerald waters and thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes, each topped with thick jungle vegetation, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves. Hang Đầu Gỗ (Wooden stakes cave) is the largest grotto in the Hạ Long area. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is one of the top tourist attractions in Vietnam.
6. Grand Canyon
Located in northern Arizona, the Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters), carved over several million years by the Colorado River. The massive canyon encompasses several distinct areas, most famous of which is Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon is not the deepest or the longest canyon in the world but the overwhelming size and its intricate and colorful landscape offers visitor spectacular vistas that are unmatched throughout the world. It is one of the great tourist attractions in the United States.
5. Iguazu Falls
One of the largest waterfalls in the World, Iguazu Falls is situated on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The number of these smaller waterfalls fluctuates from 150 to 300, depending on the water level. Approximately half of the river's flow falls into a long and narrow chasm called the Devil's Throat. The Devil's Throat is U-shaped, 82 meter high (269 ft), 150 meter (492 ft) wide and 700 meter (2300 ft) long waterfall. The falls may be reached from two main towns, with one on either side of the falls: Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, as well as from Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, on the other side of the Paraná river from Foz do Iguaçu. The falls are shared by the Iguazú National Park (Argentina) and Iguaçu National Park (Brazil).
4. Amazon
Located in South America, the Amazon is the largest river by discharge of water in the world. There are over 3,000 species of fish currently recognized in the Amazon basin, with more being discovered every year. In addition to the thousands of species of fish, the river supports crabs, algae, and turtles. The Amazon is the richest tropical forest in the world in terms of biodiversity. More than one-third of all known species in the world live in the Amazon rainforest, a giant tropical forest and river basin with an area that stretches more than (5,400,000 sq km) (2,100,000 sq mi).
3. Galapagos Islands
Lying some 906 km (563 mi) west of continental Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean. It consists of 13 main islands and 6 smaller isles, the archipelago is world renowned for its unique island ecosystem which was the inspiration for Charles Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection. It is very popular amongst natural historians, both professional and amateur. Giant tortoises, sea lions, penguins, marine iguanas and different bird species can all be seen and approached.
2. Son Doong Cave
Son Doong Cave (Vietnamese: Hang Sơn Đoòng) is a solutional cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in Vietnam. Found by a local man named Hồ Khanh in 1991 and was recently discovered in 2009 by British cavers, led by Howard Limbert. Saudi Arabia Crown Prince, who has successfully conquered the world’s largest cave Son Doong, also was the first person to enter this cave in the year 2014. It is World's largest cave by volume – 38.4×106 cubic metres (1.36×109 cu ft). It is more than 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) long, 200 metres (660 ft) high and 150 metres (490 ft) wide. Words cannot express how magnificent, Son Doong Cave is very nice light reflection inside with many beautiful colours. The caves offer scenaries you'll probably find no where else in the world. It is mixture of many kinds terrain for trekking and hiking. There are up-hill, down-hill, climbing rock, jogging forest, and walking in the sand like at beach with very beautiful places for camping. It is one of the utmost natural wonders of the little-known world. A place you should visit if you love nature and adventure.
1. Serengeti
The Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region in Africa, it is located in northern Tanzania and extends to south-western Kenya. The Serengeti hosts the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, which helps secure it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world. Approximately 70 large mammal and 500 bird species are found there. This high diversity is a function of diverse habitats, including riverine forests, swamps, kopjes, grasslands, and woodlands.
