The Masoala National Park situated in the northeast Madagascar. Established in 1997, the park protects 2,300 square kilometres of rainforest and 100 square kilometres of marine parks. The Masoala peninsula is exceptionally diverse due to its huge size, and variety of habitats. Masoala provides an excellent opportunity to experience the unique flora and fauna of the big island. There are ten lemur species, including the Aye-aye, the world’s largest nocturnal primate. The park is also home to a diverse array of birds and reptiles: including rare species such as the red owl and tomato frog. The Tampolo, Ambodilaitry and Ifaho marine parks are ideal for snorkeling and kayaking adventures.

Ranomafana National Park is in the southeastern part of Madagascar near the village of Ranomafana. The eastern section of the park is the most scenic, with numerous streams splashing through densely forested hills. With more than 41,600 hectares (161 square miles) of tropical rainforest, it is home to several rare species of flora and fauna including the golden bamboo lemur, the greater bamboo lemur, and over 120 species of frogs. Established in 1991, is one of the six national parks that make up the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rainforests of the Atsinanana.

The small towns of Ifaty and Mangily, which have now merged into a single town known as Ifaty. The area is fairly rural, is known for its spiny forest, where the strange-shaped baobab trees have thrived for centuries. Offshore, a 60-mile long coral reef is a natural barrier to rough sea waves, creating coastal waters that are ideal for diving, snorkeling and fishing.

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is a 155 square kilometre protected area in eastern Madagascar. With rainfall on 210 days of each year, this rainforest is habitat to a vast species biodiversity, including many endemic rare species and endangered species, including 11 lemur species, including the country’s largest lemur, the Indri. The park is split into two areas, the Mantadia National Park and the Analamazoatra Reserve. Located near Madagascar’s capital city of Antananarivo, Andasibe-Mantadia is one of the easiest parks to visit.

The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga has long been one of the most important spiritual and historic sites for the Malagasy people for 500 years. The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga is a historical village that was once home to Madagascar royalty. The wall that surrounds the village was made in 1847. Inside the centrepiece is a large double-storey wooden building with elaborately decorated balconies that was the home of the great king Andrianampoinimerina.  A central courtyard is shaded by two giant fig trees and nearby a sacrificial stone is still used as a place for rituals. It remains a place of worship to which pilgrims come from Madagascar and elsewhere.

The Avenue or Alley of the Baobabs is a prominent group of baobab trees lining the dirt road between Morondava and Belon'i Tsiribihina in western Madagascar. Its striking landscape draws travelers from around the world, making it one of the most visited locations in the region. Baobab trees, up to 800 years old, known locally as renala, are a legacy of the dense tropical forests that once thrived on Madagascar. Over the years, the forests were cleared for agriculture, leaving only the famous baobab trees.

Isalo National Park is a National Park in the Ihorombe Region of Madagascar. It is known for its wide variety of terrain, including sandstone formations, deep canyons, palm-lined oases, and grassland. The closest town is Ranohira, and the closest city is Toliara. A local guide is required for visitors entering the park, and guides and porters can be hired in Ranohira.

The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is a national park located in Melaky Region, northwest Madagascar. The national park centers on two geological formations: the Great Tsingy and the Little Tsingy. The word “tsingy” refers to the pinnacles that dot the park’s limestone plateau. Together with the adjacent Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve, the National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the unique geography, preserved mangrove forests, and wild bird and lemur populations.

Nosy Boraha, previously known as Île Sainte-Marie is an island off the east coast of Madagascar. Ringed by deserted beaches, traditional fishing villages and just a handful of small lodges. The Ile Sainte-Marie is a popular base for pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries due to several reasons: it was not far from the maritime routes, provided with bays and inlets protected from storms. The wrecks of several pirate ships can still be viewed from the shallow waters of the Baie des Forbans. Today, it is a hot spot for whale watching in Africa. The island is one of the top tourist attractions in Madagascar.
