10. Rügen Cliffs

The Rügen Cliffs are located in the Jasmund National Park in the northeast of Rügen island. It is famous for its spectacular views, quiet fishing villages, romantic spas and resorts, and most importantly the chalk-white cliffs at 118 meter (387 feet) high Königsstuhl (king’s chair) is the most majestic part of the cliffs. The Rugen Cliffs have been one of Germany’s most popular vacation spots for many years.

The Romantic Rhine is the most famous section of the Rhine, running between from Koblenz to Bingen. The river Rhine carves its way here through steep vineyard-covered hills topped with countless castles and ruins. UNESCO has recognised the importance of the region by designating the Upper Middle Rhine Valley a World Heritage area.

8. Frauenkirche

Built in the 18th century, the church was destroyed in the bombing of Dresden during World War II, the remaining ruins were left as a war memorial, following decisions of local East German leaders. The church reconstructed using original plans from the 1720s and reopened in 2005. Since its reopening, the Frauenkirche has been a hugely popular tourist attraction in Dresden.

The historic city Lindau is located near the meeting point of the Austrian, German and Swiss borders in the eastern part of Lake Constance (Bodensee). The historic town of Lindau is located on an 0.68-square-kilometre (0.26 sq mi) island, which is connected with the mainland by a road-traffic bridge and a railway dam leading to Lindau station. Lindau is quite a popular tourist attraction.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest funfair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.   The Oktoberfest starts at the end of September until the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. An important part of Bavarian culture, the festival has been held since 1810. Visitors may also enjoy a wide variety of traditional fare such as Hendl, Schweinebraten, Würstl, Knödel and large quantities of German beer.

The Holstentor is one of the two remaining city gates of the city of Lübeck. Built in 1464 and 1478, Holstentor was part of the medieval defences of the city of Lubeck.Today, Holstentor is one of a long list of buildings included as part of the UNESCO Hanseatic City of Lubeck site. Together with the old city center (Altstadt) of Lübeck it is one of the top tourist attractions in Germany.

Begun in 1248, the construction of this Gothic masterpiece took place in several stages and more than 600 years to complete. It is 144.5 metres (474 ft) long, 86.5 m (284 ft) wide and its towers are approximately 157 m (515 ft) tall. It is dedicated to the saints Peter and Mary and is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne.
